Battery AH Explained
The best way to describe battery amp hour is that this is effectively the size of your fuel tank, the more amp hours your battery has then the longer the battery will last between charges. More amp hours does not increase the power of a given tool.
Battery Voltage Explained
A tool with a higher voltage than another is a bit like choosing an engine in a car, the higher voltage will generally mean higher power & performance. As with cars though a bigger engine does not always translate to better performance so it is important to compare the specifications of tools at different voltages between different manufacturers.

I already have the hedge trimmer and strimmer in the same Black & Decker range , they both seem to be perform well. As a consequence I have two batteries and the chargers and it made sense to replace my tired old corded mower with this model. I have only used it a couple of times but it is fine and a bit easier and quicker than messing around with leads. I do need both batteries for my lawns (1 medium & 1 small).

Had a hover mower before this and it is a lot quieter and has a good width cut when mowing. do not need to fake up cut grass as it has a grass bag attached. Very pleased with mower so far.

The mower is fairly easy to assemble for a non techie person, like myself. It is really easy to use and very quiet. The batteries don't take long to charge and together with the charger take up little space in my garage. Easy to change the height settings - one lever adjusts all four wheels at once. Would definitely recommend this product.

Brilliant Lawnmower, I have 3 lawns total metres approx 170. One battery charge completed all 3 lawns with power to spare. Lawnmower was delivered well packed and was a fast delivery, lawnmower is powerful and easy to use, and cuts excellent with a cut height lever which is easy to adjust. Besides giving 5 stars for Value,Features,Perormance and Quality I give 5 stars also to Tooled up for a smooth transaction and rapid delivery, I am now ordering a B&D trimmer which fits my existing charger and batteries from Tooled up. Brilliant company many thanks.

I'm happy with the lawn mower, it does the job, cuts the grass to different lengths, and is on wheels, so very easy to move, and is not heavy, and very easy to put together, and the battery lasted a long time, long enough to cut my grass, I only used one battery, and it comes with two battery's, so really good,

Easy to use, fairly lightweight, cuts well, wish I'd brought the larger more powerful as long and wet grass slow it down and use up the battery quickly

Have only used this once so far but it is world's apart from my old petrol mower. Not too hard to assemble (tho the grass collector took me a while to figure out!). It is really light and easy to push. I managed my large back lawn on one battery with charge to spare. I did find the height adjuster a bit stiff but hopefully that will become easier with use or maybe it's just a knack. All in all I am very pleased with this mower and am actually looking forward to mowing the grass this year!

Through good engineering of the motor B&D have squeezed every ounce of power out of 36v as opposed to a 220v corded. We have a fairly big lawn and not having to rearrange cables all of the time makes mowing so much easier and cuts the mowing time by at least a third. Having two batteries is brilliant, but I imagine that is what put up the price as it is quite expensive. I have kept my corded mower, but other than for damp grass I cannot see me using it again. Tooled-up's speed of delivery was excellent and I have bought another 36v B&D garden tool from them already.

I bought this for my mother who has a sizeable rural garden. She loves the product. Lightweight but powerful enough to do what she needs. Battery is easy to attach and remove. Does the garden on one charge.

I bought this lawn mower as I have quite a long garden and really didn't want to be traipsing a huge extension cable around the garden and constantly tripping over it, so a cordless is very appealing. Also I already have a cordless B&D strimmer which I was very impressed with and the battery pack is compatible with this lawn mower, so that's a bonus. Delivery was excellent, next day, on time as promised. The mower is pretty solid, not cheap and flimsy in anyway, cuts well with an adjustable blade height and has a decent size grass collector. Simple to assemble and use. I didn't find the weight an issue it pushes along just fine, and you can just rock it back a little to get over any bumpy bits. So no issues there. A few years ago the idea of a battery powered lawn mower might have raised a few laughs, but this does the job. I was a bit concerned that the battery might struggle in the long grass, but overall it's performed admirably. It went through wet 6 inch grass fine and only bogged down when the collector was full and compacted. I'm sure that a small garden could be done on one charge. My rather large garden took 2 charges with a bit of power to spare and that was from a pretty unkempt starting point. One thing that I noticed is that the battery gets pretty hot in the lawn mower, much more than it does in the strimmer, (bigger motor and a proper blade to spin round, so no surprise there) but it does mean that you have to let the battery cool down quite a bit before you can recharge it, as the charger will indicate when the temperature is too high. So I'll be buying a spare battery so that I can do the whole lot in one go next time. Other than that I'm impressed. It does exactly the job I bought it for with none of the hassle of a petrol or corded mower.

I bought this lawnmower to compliment my B&D 36 volt strimmer and hedge cutters which are both excellent and would recommend. When my petrol lawnmower needed replacement I thought I would try the B&D lawnmower. The build quality is reasonably robust, and the batteries and chargers are compatible with the strimmer and hedge cutter. So all are swappable. As it is near the end of the grass cutting season,the lawnmower has not had much use; but so far so good.

Great service. Ordered yesterday (15th march), was given a delivery slot for today (16th march) between 13.15 - 14.15, and it arrived 13.10. We put it together and used it within 1 hour. We have a large garden, it cut well and battery just lasted the 30 mins.

I waited a while to review to give better feedback: firstly the advantages of mowing without a cord or the maintenance of petrol are huge. I think this will be the way to go for garden tools. The power is now quite acceptable for domestic use and can only improve. whilst the technology is still relatively new, this does a very good job at filling most requirements, except that the battery struggles at times and the total weight is a little high. why the latter i'm not sure other than build quality, which seems very good. It's lighter than petrol but heavier than a hover machine. so far each time has been point and go, easy to manoevre, easy to recharge and raise and lower to suit the grass. Cuts well and leaves a stripe. Also the collecter is robust and well fitting. so, if the weight was lowered a touch (for easier lifting) and a battery arrangement possible so that two could be used together for tough situations, i would give this 5 stars.

Product faulty on arrival. Intermittent electrical fault - works then stops then works then stops. Awaiting response to problem from Tooled UP. Asked for pictures - of an electrical fault!. Instructions very poor - had to watch a video on youtube to work out how to assemble the product. Lots of plastic - not sure how robust the mower is nor how well or otherwise the batteries work. Only good point so far is the cut height adjustment which is very easy.

A : Hi Ken, this is a push mower. Battery powered self propelled lawnmowers aren't particularly widespread at this stage in time but we do stock a handful of options if you're looking for one. Q : Do I need to buy a battery charger as well as the mower, or can the mower plug straight into a mains supply to charge? Thanks.

A : Hi Martin, you will need a separate battery charger as the batteries cannot be recharged while they are in the machine. If you buy either of the kits that we supply with batteries these will come with a charger included, or if you wish to buy the bare tool and add your own batteries you would need the BDC2A charger as well (product ID 21016568)
